November 21st, 2008

Praise

    Praise God, the one who rescues and saves. (Daniel 4:27)

Confession

    Confess any areas in which you are worrying instead of praying and accepting his loving care. (Philippians 4:6-7)

    Commit a concern to God, thanking him for his care for you.

    Ask him to help you believe in his willingness to handle it.

Thanksgiving

    Give thanks for specific ways he is caring for you right now.

    Give thanks for our local law enforcement, fire protection, and emergency personnel, and ask God’s blessing on their work.

    As you celebrate Thanksgiving Day, thank God for his goodness to you.

    Praise God for the return of Tootie Maas to her home with Egbert. Thank God for a measure of restored health.

Church Family

    “The Lord is the strength of his people.” (Psalm 29:1)

    Pray that your family and friends may be rooted and established in love and may have “power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that (they) may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” (Eph. 3:18-19)

    Rejoice with those who rejoice. Thank God, along with with Chris and Karen Rast, for the safe and healthy arrival of Elaina Grace on November 14.

    Pray for Merlyn Maas as he recovers from surgery for diverticulitis. Ask for patience through the recovery process and that these health issues will be resolved.

    Pray that our members residing at Meadow Greens would reflect on the Lord’s goodness this week. Pray for:

    Pray that our pastors and office bearers would spend increasingly more time in prayer for God’s guidance in the direction of our church, relying on the Spirit’s leading.

    Pray for Mike and Jaelyn Libolt and their family as they work to reflect God’s glory to the people of Glasgow. Pray that the light of Jesus would shine through them.

Other Concerns

    Pray for the Luri people of Iran that they would have the New Testament translated into their language.

Last Minute Prayer Concerns and Praise

    Please pray for Merlyn Maas as he recovers from diverticulitis surgery. The surgery took place last Wednesday afternoon and he has now returned to the reformatory for further recuperation in the hospital there. He’s anxious to return to his “house” and back to normal activities. Pray for patience through this recovery process and that these health issues will be resolved.

Praise

    Praise God for his abundant mercy.

Confession

    Confess any secret sins which hold you back from full fellowship with God.

    Commit yourself to turning away from sin by the power of the Holy Spirit and living completely for God’s glory.

    Ask God to restore the joy of his salvation and to grant you a willing spirit. (Psalm 51:12)

Thanksgiving

    Thank him for not punishing you as your sins deserve.

    Give thanks that Frank Matter and Jed Kok are both safely back home on U.S. soil after serving in Iraq.

Church Family

    “The Lord is the strength of his people.” (Psalm 29:1)

    “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” (Psalm 145:18). As you pray for Betty Hendricks and Tootie Maas who reside at the Christian Health Care Center, ask God to drawn them close to him.

    Pray for Bob Segaar who had a heart attack earlier this week and is hospitalized in Seattle. Ask God to grant him complete healing.

    Pray for anyone you may know who is attending the Family Life “Weekend to Remember” at Semiahmoo Resort both this weekend and next. Pray that good marriages would be refreshed and troubled ones healed.

    Pray for all those who are struggling to make ends meet during this tough economic time. Pray that each one of us would seek first God’s kingdom knowing that even though the future seems uncertain, God knows the path ahead.

    Pray for a willing spirit among family and friends to let God into their lives.

Spirituality & Ministry

    Ask God to use our church as a springboard into action to meet the spiritual and physical needs of those around us. Pray that God would open our eyes and give us willing hearts to recognize these needs and bring relief.

    Pray that God would give you the opportunity and courage to befriend a person seeking a meaningful friendship. Ask that Jesus will be the center of your relationship.

Last Minute Prayer Concerns and Praise

    Bob Segaar had a heart attack earlier this week and is hospitalized in Seattle. Please pray for complete healing.

    Give thanks with Pastor Tom and Shelly that their son Jed is back home on US soil. He landed at Fort Campbell about 8 am this morning. Shelly is still in the air but will land there in another hour or so. They received a call last night that he would be leaving, so it was a quick trip to Seattle and an early morning flight for Shelly. Praise God for this good news!

Praise

    Praise God that we can trust him at all times. (Psalm 62:8)

Confession

    Confess times of worry and trying to solve things on your own, rather than giving it over to God.

    Commit yourself to prayer, placing your worries in his hands.

    Ask God to help you grow in faith.

Thanksgiving

    Give thanks that you can cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you. (Psalm 55:22)

    Praise the Lord for his goodness! Give thanks with Nick and Kylie Spoelstra that Lauren was able to come home this past week. Pray that they would all adjust well and that Lauren would continue to grow healthy and strong.

    Give thanks that Doug VanLant was able to return home following his hospital stay. Pray for renewed health and strength.

    As we celebrate Veterans Day this coming Tuesday, thank God for the selfless service of those who gave their lives in order to protect our nation, defend our freedoms, and bring peace to those who face evil aggressors. Ask God to grant comfort to those who have lost loved ones while carrying out their duty to our country. Continue to pray for safety for all of those who are currently in the military forces, that they may know God’s peace in their hearts even in the midst of difficult circumstances.

    Pray that joy would fill our homes and lives and ask God to show us ways to bring joy to others.

Prayer of the Week: The Persecuted Church

    Pray that God would heal, comfort, and sustain those who are oppressed, persecuted and imprisoned for their beliefs.

    Pray that the church would have great wisdom, grace and boldness as it seeks to serve nations as a peace-maker and healer. Pray that the Holy Spirit would bring reforming revival.

    Pray that God would intervene in the political processes to bring peace, security and good governance.

    Pray that God would raise up godly leaders in churches, local communities and govern-ment, despite persecution.

    Pray that God would empower believers to be peacemakers and the light of truth even in the midst of dark civil conflict.

Spirituality & Ministry

    Pray that God’s light would shine in our community through our church’s members.

    Pray that the needs of our missionaries would be met, both spiritual and monetarily.

Other Concerns

    Pray for newly elected political leaders, that God would work in their hearts so that the world would come to see Jesus. Pray that we would repent of our wrongdoings and that revival would sweep this nation.

    Pray for the many organizations, including representatives from the CRC, gathering this weekend (November 7-9) on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., for three days of advocacy for the people of Darfur.
